According to ADB (Asian Development Bank) Country Director in Vietnam – Eric Sidgwick, economic growth will make a breakthrough in 2018. Thanks to that, Vietnam will become one of the fastest growing nations in the region. The driving forces for this growth are increasing exports, domestic consumption, FDI investment, and agriculture being more active.
The representative of ADB thinks that the strong growth momentum will be maintained as a result of solid FDI activities. The Euro and the US dollar continue to become stronger to promote industrial production activities in the next two years. Construction industry is forecast to grow in 2018 and 2019, thanks to commitments and FDI disbursements hitting a record in 2017 up to US$ 17.5 billion, up 10.8% over last year (according to The Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) at the Ministry of Planning and Investment)
Service industry is said to continue the growth in 2018 and 2019. The number of international tourists is forecast to rise 15-20% in 2018, and bank loans is estimated to increase 17-18%. Agriculture is also predicted to keep growing in the next 2 years; in 2018, the government target of 2.8-3.0% can be basically reached.
